In celebration of the 3rd Year Anniversary of Minna no Golf 5, all the extra add-ons or downloadable content has now gone on a 50% discount sale for one week.

[Duration is from Japan time July 22nd to July 29th.]

I would have posted this sooner, but internet has been playing up all day long… Hardly could stay connected to do anything haha… If you don’t have any of the extra content, the whole package will cost you 3,500 yen. This offer is only available in the Japanese PlayStation Store and not available in the other regions that also support the Mingol version.

I’ll come fix this later haha… today is the 13th year since the release of Minna no Golf!

I’ve done a few minor updates to the site, there is now a Minteni Events Category and I’ll be doing some HTML5 experiments on the site to stream videos that are longer than ten minutes… 😀

This was recorded last week when a rare friend logged online… 🙂

Over the course of last week there was many complains of the server disconnecting players, I experienced these issues also so it wasn’t just a small number of users. Anyway today there was an Emergency Maintenance that happened and the staff has posted up an apology for the inconvenience or grief experience from the 6th~12th of July. That’s all it says on the login screen… 🙂

So this weekend I hit another -14 on Chura Umi… but apart from that, I also hit three Albatrosses, only managed to keep two of them but the better looking one didn’t survive. Who knew that I would hit so many, really should record them before I hit more. Something is making me hit Albatrosses more than usual though, it has never been my strong point. Though I would trade all these Albatrosses for one really nice Homing Spiral… heh.

Today I set up my Shihiko.net site up again… I can’t remember how long ago was the last time I actually used that domain as a proper website, but I decided to make the site last week so I have an alternative area to write about Games other than Minna no series… Currently I’ve left registration off until I have time to design the layout and look of the new website, but if you’re interested in Game Development or the Gaming Industry related studies feel free to visit. 🙂

On another topic… Everybody’s Tennis on the PlayStation Portable is released today. As with tradition, the Everybody’s series reflects the Minna no series without having the weird redesigned character images on the cover. 🙂

I was contemplating if I should post this last night since at the time in my time zone it is the 29th which is the scheduled release date for the US. Anyway PlayStation Blog has it up so I’ll just relay people to Chris’ post.

Still someone explain to me what the deal is with the Hot Shots localisations… that new video and the Hot Shots box arts are disturbing.

Today’s Mingol 5 Maintenance will be extended. I forgot to post about this last week… Just remembered so this is to notify those who still cannot connect after the regular maintenance period is usually over.

Wow some writer over at Joystiq posted about HST:GaG… Clearly not qualified to post at a game website/blog if you cannot quickly grasp game mechanics for different games. You shouldn’t compare a game to other series of the same genre, except when the game has no previous releases and you are writing a review with comparison. The game should be compared to it’s original title, in this case the Hot Shots Tennis title on the PlayStation 2. Maybe he just couldn’t PI. 😉

Umm… did the game get sponsors? Paola has an Adidas Racket.

Personally, I’d say Minteni’s style of game play is a lot more intuitive. The Perfect Impact system along with the [ugh] Rabbit and Turtle helps the player improve and understand what they are doing wrong or why shots don’t end up how they wanted. I remember playing other tennis games such as the Sega Virtual Tennis series, the game was great of course… but I could never understand what I was doing to hit those awesome shots or why the character sometimes hits delayed or leaps for a shot he could have easily stepped into. [Not talking about the career mode character where the stats effect your characters performance greatly and you can become retarded very quickly if you press at the wrong time or run around too much.]

Anyway there is a few comments that follow up the article that has people disagreeing with it so I guess true gamers knows what it takes to enjoy a game.

So Chris the producer over at the US PlayStation.Blog usually posts about the Hot Shots games but this time he has put up a video talking about Hot Shots Tennis…  there are spoilers in the video in regards to the story so if you wanted to play without any of that just don’t watch the video.

Features:

  • Brand new RPG styled gameplay.
  • One-of-a-kind gamesharing features
  • Ad-hoc multiplayer (Singles or Doubles matches)
  • Multiple customization options with a touch of the Hot Shots flare
  • Great new zainy characters and one menacing Helgasht soldier.

Guess that rules out Online Multi-player through Infrastructure or PlayStation Network… There will always be Ad-hoc party for those who already have a PlayStation 3 though. The game runs fairly well on an average connection but the lag can get a bit absurd.

Oh, I also figured out why there is the KillZone guy, because well in Minna no Tennis they had a celebrity character who is well unknown outside of Japan. The cross-dressing celebrity fits well in the portable series however might be a little disturbing outside of Japan so they put the KillZone character instead.
