While playing the game there are some holes that Freeze the console and game. This bug has been verified and the developers are working to have this fixed as soon as possible.
Guess that rules out trying to enjoy Tornado Cup too much… Imagine you rolled it in Slot Mode then get frozen because you happen to be on the hole it freezes on.
I uploaded this a few days ago, but I didn’t think it was that special so I kept it unlisted. Turns out it is quite hard to pull off every time so now that Minna no Golf 5 server is offline it’s back to focusing on Minna no Golf 6.
The trend is people are creating rounds with Auto Just Impact and Tornado Cup [3m] rules for their game rooms and just trying to hit ridiculous scores. The nice thing is of course you can get heaps of points for each round you play to use at the Shop and it is probably a lot faster to complete the loyalty you need for each character.
These rules allow you to complete rounds fast and makes no difference what character and gear you use. Auto Just Impact disables to use of Power Adjustment ability and Tornado Cup disables most special abilities activating on the pin anyway… So the abilities from loyalty becomes pretty useless.
This at least is something fun for me to enjoy about the game when I am not trying to master anything specific… Current best for the rule… I’ll think about uploading more if I beat it, but it takes half a day to upload this video at my current location, so it isn’t really a priority to upload long videos.
Servers have gone into “Maintenance” which means it is offline… Anyway I’ll be updating this post with tributes and activities that were done before the servers shut down.
Here is a video of my last 50 player GF tour in Minna no Golf 5. Also I’m using Expert for the first time!
A bunch of us lining up for a word of Thanks and Goodbye to Minna no Golf 5.

So the week following the end of Minna no Golf 5 Online will be featuring the Famitsu Classic Event. The event will be running from April 2nd to April 7th with the results announced on April 8th.
As usual with the special events there will be lobby parts prizes rewarded to the participants… This time it is Famitsu Theme parts, for those that remember during the Minna no Golf 5 Events that there were Famitsu parts rewarded to participants and players who placed in podium or better positions. This time you receive it from participating each day of the event.
Here are the regulations for the upcoming event:
Date | Course Regulations | Rules |
April 2nd | Kagurayama Country Club 9H IN Regular Tee |
Infinite Power Mode |
April 3rd | Harvest Hills Golf Course 9H OUT Regular Tee |
Bunker +1 Stroke |
April 4th | Mt. Sakura Onsen Country Club 18H Regular Tee |
Tough Pin Tiny Cup |
April 5th | La Provance Resort 9H IN Regular Tee |

April 6th | Legacy of Golf Links 18H Regular Tee |
Strong Wind Tournament |
April 7th | Mar Cielo Golf Course 18H Regular Tee |

Not sure if I want to play this event… I won’t be doing well after playing so much Minna no Golf 5 let alone having to participate on two consoles. I might not bother with the PS Vita since I hardly touch it anyway…

Since the developers seem to always want to hide what they have changed or updated and so it was not detailed in the update notes… this should list some changes that may not be obvious to players that don’t usually take notice of these things…
System Balance:
Game Room Rules:
Slot Mode Rules:
I’ll be updating the Slot Mode and Game Room Rules in the guides and more of this post soon… Some rules are available for PS3 but not available on the PSVita.
A more detailed update information has also been released along with the update for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. This post will be edited as I sort out the details… I’m still playing Minna no Golf 5…
Update 1.05 [275 MB] + 1.14 [417 MB]:

Well we know this is coming, but even on the Japanese side it seems kind of sloppy how they are rolling it out. I believe they are waiting for the Minna no Golf 5 Online Service to close before rolling out the updates. Either way the information being relayed rather than being posted as actual player information news is unusual of them.
Update 1.05 + 1.14:
Update is due within the next two weeks… Notice it doesn’t even mention Northern Fox or Kat being available for PlayStation 3… We probably still can’t run around the map in Stroke though… 🙁

So with only a few days remaining for the Online Service of Minna no Golf 5 and the potential updates to come for Minna no Golf 6… For the last remaining days of Minna no Golf 5 I will be logged online playing and messing around with the old system and engine for the last remaining days.
Minna no Golf 5 Online Service Ends on the 31st of March. If you would like to play with me or try have a shot of being recorded and have some memories of this game uploaded to YouTube* then pop in and search for me to see if I’m around.
If I’m not on then I’m out, but while working or at home I’ll be logged on the PS3 until the end of Minna no Golf 5 Online.
*Rules Apply for upload, the game that is recorded must be some what entertaining to viewers. This is to maintain quality of videos being uploaded and so people don’t waste 10-20 minutes of their time watching a boring show. You don’t need to request to be recorded all games are reviewed and recorded on the fly…
Looks to me they have finally got around to updating the store… Details from the blog point out the costs to purchase the Downloadable Content and it looks to be that each character will cost $0.99, with the courses going for $2.99 apiece. You’ll be able to grab the whole set for $11.99 and PlayStation Plus members will get 25% off that price which is $8.99.
Prices will vary for other regions but this is the update/news for Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational. Though for the full set that is pretty cheap compared to Japan. I guess they want you all to go back home to play…? Also not sure if I find the full set idea a good thing or not, as it makes it sound as if future updates may take even longer to come out or never come at all… sort of similar to how when a game is near it’s end they release a special update that lets you buy all the content in one shot.
Official news also points out the patch in more detail about Turn Based Challenge:
Players can now also set up 20 different parallel games at any given time. To avoid cheating, there are no re-dos, similar to Daily Tourneys. Short messages (like SMS) are also now enabled, as well as competitive score history between friends.
Additional gameplay updates include:
With the assistance of the other members we have mostly covered what has been posted… Someone up there needs to get their work together, I mean even before the update this could have been posted or even added to the Online Message during a server login.

Strange no one mentioned this until today, I guess people really aren’t logging into the lobbies… Senidol just posted this:

I’ll head back to Starcraft 2. New units are all weird compared to when I last used them in the Beta. 😛
